 My
dream has always been to have a fun, happy shop with cool music,
great people, and absolutely overflowing with fantastic finds. The kind
of store
you always imagined, but could never quite find.
I
started working on this dream 10 years ago, selling fifties dinettes from
my barn, always hoping to surprise and delight my customers with the range of objects
I could find and the reasonable prices at which I could sell them. As my clientele grew, I needed to find a place that
housed my dream
combination of great antiques, great prices, and great atmosphere!
Today, my husband and I own The Old Lucketts Store Antiques, a beautiful,
3-story landmark building that was once a post office, general store, and
Lucketts' family home, located in the tiny hamlet known as Lucketts, Virginia.
What
I never could have imagined is the incredible group of people who would come
into my life and become part of the shop. I never met more fun, creative,
hardworking gang in all my life. These talented people (almost all who were customers at one point!) are out everyday combing
the
countryside for great finds, then hauling, painting, fixing, sewing, and cleaning their merchandise –
just because they are passionate about what
they do! We have turned into a great group of friends, and it is this gang
who has taken what I started and turned it into the killer shop that it is
today.
We are proud to have been
voted the best antique shop
in Loudoun County for the past two years. And
proud that our shop and several of our dealers' homes
have shown up in
national magazines and The Better Homes & Garden’s book
“Flea Market Decorating”.
But
the thing that gets our motor going more than anything else is the thrill
of the hunt… never knowing what fun finds we
will have to offer our customer next…decorating our rooms with all of our cool
stuff….making someone happy…and
then starting all over again. (All done with a little Bonnie Raitt playing
in the background, too!)
I
guess my dreams have come true! Thanks
for visiting our site (and store, too!) and have fun!
Love,
Suzanne
